VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering Opportunities with Tanzania Migration Safari
At Tanzania Migration Safari, we are deeply committed to community development and social impact. Our volunteering programs provide a unique opportunity for individuals from around the world to give back while experiencing Tanzania’s vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes. We offer volunteering placements in hospitals, primary and secondary schools, orphanages, office administration, and women empowerment projects, allowing volunteers to immerse themselves in meaningful work that directly benefits local communities.
Volunteers are accommodated in our Volunteer House or with a host family, giving them an authentic experience of Tanzanian life. While accommodation is provided for free, volunteers are expected to contribute towards meals, utilities, local transportation, and airfare. This contribution ensures that local communities receive continuous support while keeping the program sustainable. Whether you have professional skills, teaching experience, or simply a passion for helping others, there is a role for you in our programs.
Hospital Volunteering
Healthcare volunteers play an essential role in supporting local hospitals and clinics, particularly in underserved communities where medical resources are limited. This program is ideal for medical professionals, students, or anyone interested in public health. Depending on their qualifications, volunteers may assist with patient care, medical procedures, and health education programs. Volunteers work alongside local doctors and nurses to support departments such as maternity care, pediatrics, and outpatient services.
In addition to providing direct healthcare support, volunteers also help educate the community on disease prevention, hygiene, and maternal health, which can have a lasting impact. Those without medical training can contribute by assisting with administrative tasks, organizing medical supplies, and engaging in public health campaigns. This experience is not only rewarding but also provides an opportunity to learn about Tanzania’s healthcare system and the challenges faced in developing regions.

Volunteering in Primary Schools
Education is a powerful tool for change, and our primary school volunteering program aims to provide children with quality education and mentorship. Volunteers work in local public and private primary schools, teaching subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and the Arts to students aged 5 to 13 years old. Since many schools face shortages of qualified teachers and teaching materials, volunteers provide much-needed support in improving the learning experience.
Aside from classroom teaching, volunteers engage students in sports, music, storytelling, and extracurricular activities, fostering creativity and confidence among young learners. Patience and enthusiasm are essential, as many students are learning English as a second language. By working in these schools, volunteers play a crucial role in helping children develop important skills that will shape their future.
Volunteering in Secondary Schools
For those interested in working with older students, our secondary school volunteering program offers a chance to teach and mentor teenagers aged 14 to 18 years old. Volunteers assist in teaching key subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Business, and Computer Literacy. Many secondary school students aspire to pursue higher education or careers, and volunteers can guide them by offering career counseling, leadership training, and skills development workshops.
In addition to classroom teaching, volunteers help students improve their English proficiency, preparing them for national exams and better career opportunities. Engaging with young minds in secondary schools is an opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower the next generation of Tanzanian leaders. Volunteers with skills in sports, arts, and entrepreneurship are encouraged to introduce creative learning methods that make education enjoyable and impactful.

Orphanage Volunteering
Our orphanage volunteering program focuses on caring for children who have lost their parents or come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many orphanages in Tanzania operate with limited resources, and volunteers provide much-needed emotional, educational, and physical support to these children. Volunteers spend their time assisting with daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, playing games, and helping with homework.
Beyond these basic tasks, volunteers serve as role models and mentors, offering love and attention that the children desperately need. By organizing recreational activities, storytelling sessions, and art projects, volunteers can create a safe and nurturing environment for the children. This program is especially rewarding, as it allows volunteers to form strong emotional bonds with the children, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
Office Administration Volunteering
For individuals interested in business, marketing, or administrative work, our office administration volunteer program provides an opportunity to contribute to the operations of Tanzania Migration Safari. Volunteers assist with tour planning, customer service, email correspondence, and social media management, helping promote responsible tourism and community engagement.
This program is ideal for those with backgrounds in marketing, communication, business administration, or IT, as they can help improve the company’s operations and online presence. Volunteers also play a crucial role in organizing fundraising events and outreach campaigns that support our community projects. This experience allows volunteers to develop professional skills while contributing to the company’s mission of sustainable tourism and local development.

Women’s Empowerment Projects
Empowering women is a vital part of community development, and our women’s projects focus on providing women with the skills and opportunities needed for financial independence and self-sufficiency. Volunteers in this program work with women’s cooperatives and community groups, teaching essential skills such as English, entrepreneurship, computer literacy, and financial management.
Additionally, volunteers support small business development by assisting women in areas like tailoring, handicrafts, and agriculture. These programs provide women with opportunities to generate income and improve their quality of life. By sharing knowledge and skills, volunteers help break cycles of poverty and promote gender equality in local communities.
Volunteering with Tanzania Migration Safari is more than just an opportunity to travel—it’s a chance to make a meaningful impact while immersing yourself in Tanzanian culture. We provide free accommodation in our Volunteer House or with a host family, allowing volunteers to experience daily life in Tanzania firsthand.
While accommodation is covered, volunteers are required to contribute to meals, utilities, transportation, and airfare. This contribution ensures the sustainability of the programs and helps support local communities in a responsible manner. Volunteers also have the opportunity to explore Tanzania’s natural beauty, including its world-famous safaris, mountains, and cultural heritage sites.
By joining our program, you’ll gain valuable experience, make lifelong friendships, and create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most. Whether you’re a student, professional, or retiree, there’s a place for you in our volunteer programs.
